Allergy testing via a simple blood draw

Allergy Solution provides improved management of allergies by offering a specific, comprehensive and cost-effective panel using the latest technology available in an all-in-one test. By looking at 295 allergens all at once the test can also identify possible allergic cross-reactions and provide a risk assessment of food allergies predicting the degree of severity.

Book your appointment now which includes a simple venous blood draw by one of our trained phlebotomists. We will manage the rest, with quick results in 2 working days.

Results are easy to understand and follow, enabling you to make informed and appropriate decisions on lifestyle, pet selection and diet. Allergen-specific Immunotherapy may be available in pollen, mite and venom allergies.

The test covers 117 traditional allergens and 178 specific molecular allergen components in ONE test, alleviating the need for a multitude of additional allergy tests. Allergens included are grass, tree and weed pollens, house dust and storage mites, yeasts and moulds, legumes, cereals, spices, fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts, milk, egg, seafoods, meats, venoms (honeybee and wasps), fire ant poison, cockroaches, animals (pets and farm), inhalants, latex and more.

The detection of unique molecular allergens measures IgE levels to specific components of the traditional allergens, as well as total IgE, uncovering additional about an underlying allergy and cross reactive allergies. All this information makes it easier for your healthcare professional to provide personalised management and treatment of your allergies, avoid overly restrictive food diets, and improve your quality of life.

Please do get in touch should you have any further questions.

How do I go about doing the test?

Your appointment at FirstSight will consist of a simple blood draw. You will then be emailed your report within 2 working days.

How much does it cost?

The test costs £349.00

How long does the test take/when will I get my results?

The test results will take 1 working day from receipt at the laboratory. Results will be emailed to the email address provided when you order.

What are the most common allergy symptoms?

  • Runny nose or sneezing
  • Pain or tenderness on the areas of the face around your cheeks, eyes and forehead
  • Swollen mouth, lips, throat or eyes
  • Coughing, wheezing or breathlessness
  • Itchy skin or a skin rash where the surface of the skin is raised
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms: diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting

How does the test work?

The Allergy Solution test is done on the blood sample that is taken at our clinic. The antibody IgE is only found in the Serum of your blood. The test is designed to measure the total amount of IgE in your serum as well specific IgE levels against a wide range of allergens and molecular allergens. This means that by testing nearly 300 allergens, there is a 99.99% accuracy in identifying your allergy.

What sample do I need to give?

A simple blood draw will be taken here at the FirstSight clinic.

Do I need to stop taking my antihistamines?

No, you can continue all your normal medications as they will not affect the test.

Does my GP need to be involved in the test?

No, but we strongly recommend you discuss the results with your GP or Allergist if an allergy is detected.

Will I be able to understand the results of the test, or will I need my GP to explain it to me?

The results come with a summary page which will assist you in understanding the detailed report. If an allergy is detected you should work with your GP or allergist to look at how to manage it properly.

What are the benefits of this allergy test over other allergy tests available?

Most current allergy tests look at a single allergen, which can mean several tests need to be performed to derive a clear allergy diagnosis. Many of them do not identify the molecular components that make up the allergen. A component that is causing the allergy symptoms may also be found in another allergen which was not tested for. For example, your allergy test for apples may be positive but the specific component in the apple that you are allergic too could also be in other foods e.g. peaches. This allergy test can detect these molecular components and help you get your allergy symptoms under control.
